I'm always inspired by the talent of my fellow Close to My Heart consultants, and this layout was inspired by the Liz Mullins Johnson.
One of my groups wanted to do a non-gender specific birthday layout. Liz created her layout using the beautiful papers of Kaleidoscope but with the pastel colours that wouldn't work for my ladies.
I've been trying to use up my stash of retired papers (just so I can restock with new) and came across a few pieces that believe it or not are from a Halloween paper package.
I think this paper package was called Enchantment but honestly I can't recall. The cricut cuts are from the Artistry and Artbooking with the stamping from Kaleidoscope card workshop exclusive stamp. I used honey, eggplant and olive (retired) as feature colours on this layout.
I love how Liz was able to showcase the stamp set from a cardmaking workshop into a scrapbooking layout.
Thanks again Liz for the inspiration!!!
Enjoy,

Flamingo Time!!!
Wow - this week's sketch for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge almost had me... it was a tough one Michelle.
Hmmm.....
What to do.......
Hmmm.....
Bam!!! I got it!!!!
One of the new paper packages released with the Seasonal Expression 2 is Calypso and it is cute, cute, cute. Patterned paper of flamingos, polka dots, stripes and more along with fresh spring colours make this the perfect paper package for summer pictures!!! But what about card creations?
Don't you just love the pink flamingo!!! It is so much fun and a snap to do with Tickled Pink thin cuts and My Acrylix. Simply run the thin cut through your cutting machine and then stamp the images - I used cotton candy first and second generation and black inks. I popped the wing up on foam tape and then the entire flamingo again with thin foam tape for added dimension.
To finish off, I added some black sequins from the Calypso sequins, and lagoon zipper lace trim from my stash, and faux stitching with a white gel pen.
This card can be used for a graduation/congratulations card but I think I may use to welcome a baby girl!!! Don't forget to check out the other creations at http://atlanticheartschallenge.blogspot.ca/
Enjoy,
Jennifer

Fun Folds with H2H
We have a fun challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart Challenges - - Fun Folds!!!! This is the opportunity to wow with the card design and create something truly unique.
There is a bit of a story behind my card design. My brother recently retired and he purchased a mountain bike. Sounds pretty normal right? Well my sister-in-law told us that when he took to his 2 wheels he looked like his grand-daughter on her bike, trying to get his balance. She said he covered twice the distance zig zagging down the road. My first question.... "does he wear a helmet"?
The patterned paper is from Urban paper package and the clouds are cut from a very old patterned paper from my stash.
The bike is coloured with ShinHan markers, fussy cut out and popped up with foam tape.
So now, the fun part...
This is a tunnel card which is a new one for me but was so fun putting together.
I used the centre point feature and cut a 3 3/4" circle in the middle of the top piece. I cut another piece to use as a template and sponged the background sky and grass on the background.
The top piece with the "tunnel" is scored and folded at 2 1/8", 4 1/4" and 6 3/8" and is the same size as the background (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). The two side pieces are adhered to the background. I used the same Urban paper for the side flaps and added some blue enamel gems.
I cut additional clouds from the patterned paper and stamped two suns from My Anchor stamp and popped with foam tape. The flowers are from the Enjoy the Ride stamp set as well.
I love using the zip strip pieces - don't throw those strips away!!!
Can you see the transparent strips?
The transparent strips are holding the bike out from the back of the tunnel to make it look like it's floating - or 3D.
The video used fishing line - might have to add that to my craft stash.
The card folds flat and measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
I hope you'll give this fun card a try!!!
This card is going to my brother for his birthday - - I know he will love it and, of course, he's enjoying the ride.
Enjoy,
Jennifer

Beautiful Florence
I am in love with the beautiful Florence paper package, complements and embellishments. The patterns in the paper from the bold graphics, flowers, to subtle stripes, words and dots are perfect for all your scrapbooking needs.
Using the patterns from the Workshop your Way I created the cards as shown and then added a bit extra for my own twist.
The bottom card I added a bow of poppy thick twine, and ink distressed the paper to add some interest.
A bunch of love thin cuts and stamp sets make these images a breeze. I coloured with coordinating Shin Han marker inks.
I was excited to see white twine in the Seasonal Expressions 2!!! So for this card, I added a twist of white twine and moved the sequins in a random pattern.
It's always interesting to see pieces of paper moved around and how it makes the card look totally different.
This 2 page layout came together quickly using the coordinating complements and sequins.
Clustering groups of small embellishments makes a big punch.
Enjoy,
Jennifer

Motivational Monday
What motivates you, moves you to do the things you do, be the person you are?
"What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect so we never dared ask the universe for it. I'm saying I'm the proof that you can ask the universe for it."
"I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which, was that you can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."

It's Magical!!!
Is there anything more magical than Disney.....how about Convention at Disney?? I've had the pleasure of visiting Disneyland a few times thanks to CTMH. It wouldn't be a destination I would travel to on my own in all likelihood, but to attend an annual convention, I'm there.
I love the new Magical paper package, complements and accessories. They were perfect for my 2014 Disneyland pictures.
Breakfast with Disney characters, being a kid and getting our pictures taken with them all... Magical Fun!!!
To get even more pictures on the layout, 4 x 6 flip flaps are the perfect solution.
Minnie was gracious to pose for pictures with us and loved our custom Minnie ears!!!
I told Eorye that his tail was still there and not to worry and asked Tigger if he was bouncy!!!!
While I'm not a big thrill enthusiast Big Thunder was the perfect size roller coaster.
A few well placed "wheeeeee" got me thru the ride.
Although Disneyland is fun, there is no better amusement than the opening general session at Convention. The excitement is like a buzz all around the room.
The days fly by in a blur of smiles, sleepless nights, crazy days and friends we only see once a year. It is truly a magical time.
Enjoy,
Jennifer

Beautiful LaVieEnRose
Are you ready for another sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge?
Michelle has come up with a multi- layer sketch for this weeks' challenge.
I am a fan of layering cardstock and patterned paper and couldn't wait to get started on this sketch.
I admit I found it difficult to work with the LaVieEnRose paper package.
The flower pattern is vibrant with big shapes and bold colours. I just wasn't sure what photos, projects I would use it for.
I've changed my mind and I now simply love this paper package. The various black and white geometric patterned paper work beautifully with the bold flowers.
The bride & groom and background circle were cut with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. A few tiny black sparkles and a sprig of pink flower finish off the card. I haven't stamped the inside yet thinking I could use for a wedding or anniversary card.
Enjoy,
Jennifer

Georgie with Heart 2 Heart
I'm excited to share that I have been selected as a Design Team member with Heart 2 Heart Challenges. I look forward to the adventure ahead and the opportunity to share my artwork with all the followers of Heart 2 Heart.
First up for me is the challenge "Baby Love" using the Georgie paper package. I have used this paper package soooooo much creating five baby albums for my nieces and nephews this past year. We have welcomed four new great nieces and nephews, Kaden, Fiona, Mae, Lily and patiently waiting the arrival of number 5, in the last 6 months. I created a baby album for every one of them!!!
So, I have two projects for you.... the traditional baby Georgie layout.
What could be cuter than a cloud and elephant mobile, surrounded with hearts? Maybe, a little Sugar & Spice!!
Georgie is the perfect paper package for baby layouts and I loved creating all of them.
I also wanted to show how you could use "baby" patterned paper for non-baby themed projects. For this card, I used the canary and whisper striped patterned paper from Georgie, matting with white daisy and peacock cardstock.
Bunch of Love thin cuts and coordinating stamp set make a quick and easy sentiment, coloured with ShinHan markers. I then added white sequins and white thick twine to embellish the card.
Thanks for joining us at Heart 2 Heart Challenges and I look forward to sharing many projects with you during my term on the design team.
Enjoy,
Jennifer
