Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day - well almost.  One of my downlines at our monthly crop showed me a beautiful card she had made.  I was awestruck and asked if she could share with us.  She laughed, and pulled out a copy of Card Maker Spring 2013 magazine and said, "sure, go ahead -  follow the instructions."

This beautiful card is a step-by-step tutorial in the magazine.  Of course, I immediately knew I had to try it out.

Thank goodness for my cricut!!
The butterflies,  flourishes, branches and banner were cut with images from Art Philosophy & Artiste cartridges. (exclusive to CTMH).   The colours I used are breeze (retired), buttercup, sweet leaf, cocoa and bamboo.  Flowers, buttons, twine, and chipboard banner are also available from CTMH.

The card is not difficult, but it does take a little time and patience.  I actually made two, one for my mother and the other for my mother-in-law, two very special ladies who each raised 6 kids, ran a household, and put up with a lot of shenanigans from their broods.

I hope they enjoy their flowers as much as I enjoyed creating for them.

With enough caffeine...

With enough caffeine I could rule the world!!!  Thanks to a couple of Spring storms we've experienced over the last few weeks, work has been extremely busy.  Every morning I say "start the IV - with enough coffee this day will be bearable".

One of the ladies that works with our company sent a surprise to me this morning... a delivery of Tim Horton's coffee.  I think I sighed out loud.

I really wanted to let her know how much I appreciated it, and how much fun it was to work with people that shared in the craziness of the industry.  So I created this card.

Isn't it great.  I just love this image.  I was in a stamp swap a few months back and this is one of the images I received.   She is coloured with my Copics (B93,B95 for pants, R93, R95 for top, and sorry I forget the yellow I used, but think it was Y15, Y17, Y19?)
I also pulled bubblegum and grey wool cardstock (retired) from my stash and paired with Chantilly and leftover ribbon from For Always card WOTG.  The sparkles are from the new pink sparkle assortment.

Enjoy,

Time to get bossy!!

Time to get bossy?  No not really - it's time to learn a new technique at my Saturday card making crop - embossing.

The ladies had fun making these 3 cards.

First up was heat embossing and they made the Happy Birthday card embossing the presents.  It also showed how to think outside the box and just because a stamp set is shown as an Anniversary/Wedding cake - doesn't mean it can't be presents.  We continued with the heat embossing, as well as sponging their own background on the favourite Country Born card.
Last up was emboss resist using the June SOTM & the beautiful Chantilly paper package.

I had so much fun with these ladies - truly this is why I love what I do.  To see the smile on their faces, and the joy in completing something they thought they couldn't do.  One of my new to the club ladies was so excited she was tapping her feet and smiling from ear to ear.  It was wonderful to hear "I can do this".

I also took the time to show her what she had in her stash of treasures.  She wanted to scrapbook but had bought items she had no idea how to use.  She went home with a grin and a new found spirit to use the supplies she had and practice the new techniques she had learned.

I love Love my Saturday crop ladies.

Until next time, I hope you enjoy the cards we created.

Female Humour

Female humour - what is it?    My girlfriends and I will absolutely crack up about something, belly laughing, tears rolling down our faces, sides sore from laughing, and the guys.....they stare at us, they just don't get what's so funny.  That's "female humour" - something only we get.

One of the ladies I work with is having surgery involving her "girls".  I have had this card template in my inspiration binder for a long time.  I was just waiting for the perfect opportunity and person to make this card for.

Introducing Female Humour - -

What do you think?  It absolutely cracks me up.  The template makes the card, but I added some bling and lace to fancy up her bra.  I distressed the edges lightly with bamboo ink to soften the whiteness of the card base.

The inside- tee hee hee - is the "butt" of the card.
The sentiment reads  "Behind you 100%"

I was giggling away as I made the card, showed my hubby and got a smirk - not even a full grin - not a guffaw.  Nope, he doesn't get it.  My theory of "Female Humour" is confirmed.

I was thrilled with the card and I know the recipient will be as well.

I hope you enjoy!!
